Flex Builder bug report: Romania is not a Socialist Republic any more!
This is hilarious. Lacra, one of the Flex engineers on our team in Romania, filed this bug, which points out a place in Flex Builder where there is a list of country codes that includes “Romania, Socialist Republic of (RO).” As she writes, “The list of countries in the dialog that opens mentions Romania as a socialist republic! It hasn’t been one in 18 years :) It is a (democratic) republic.”

I sincerely wish that the Flex 2.0.1 could work with the current debugger. I installed the current Flash Player when the Kuler web page asked me too and then realized that I had overwritten my IE 6 Flash debugger. So, I downloaded the latest Flash debugger and installed it thinking that would solve the problem. No. Then I applied the hot fixes to Flex Builder. All of them. Still cannot run the debugger.
In a dream world, the Adobe Flash update page would detect if a user has the debugger version installed and install the new debug version.
If Flex cannot work with the new debug version of the player, then it would be cool if Adobe could provide a simple update download for Flex Builder customers and include the link in the error message.
OR if Flex Builder had an button somewhere in the IDE that allowed a user to fix the debug version of Flash to eliminate this problem for those of us who are too slow to realize we are messing up our development environment when we update Flash on our browsers.
It’s possible that I don’t know some simple piece of information about Flex Builder or Flash Player that would solve all of this.
By the way, that’s a funny story. :)
Sorry I posted to the wrong post.
Hi William, I’m not 100% sure what issue you are facing, but Flex Builder 2.0.1 does work with the current debugger. I suspect you are facing the issue addressed in this earlier blog post, which points to a Flex Builder patch: http://www.morearty.com/blog/2007/04/16/new-flash-player-and-also-a-flex-builder-patch/
Well, I applied all the patches, I also reinstalled the debugger version (which is hard to find in the bowels of the Adobe site)- all to no avail.
But I re-installed Flex 2.0.1 (had to get help from the corporate help desk since they don’t give us the installation media or the key) and that solved the problem.
Thanks for your reply.
William
Re-installing the Flex Builder fixed similar problems on my system too. Chris Ruiz
